25th August – Wobbly Chairs

This morning I woke to the patter of rain, the sky decided to water the earth before I had chance to. The garden looks richer for it, leaves glossy and soil breathing deeply.

I’ve been thinking about the garden swap. At the meeting, things seemed to grow past plants—Stanley mentioned the possibility of tools, and someone else murmured “furniture.” I can see how a simple swap might swell into a jumble. But perhaps that’s not so terrible. Every garden is a little wild, no matter how tightly clipped.

I caught myself eyeing the old chair in my kitchen. Its wobble feels too familiar to give away, but then again…maybe another chair is waiting its turn here.
