20th August – The Swap Widens
What began as a neat row of potted herbs outside the hall has now grown unruly. Today there was a rug leaning against the wall, a frying pan with a dent, and a pair of candlesticks, one missing its base. FBW announced that “swaps should evolve,” as though she had planned this progression all along.
I suspect she secretly loves the chaos of it, though she’d never admit it.
I do too. There’s something oddly comforting in seeing our unwanted things gathered together in a heap, waiting to find new hands. A jumble, yes—but a shared jumble, which is better than order, though I do wonder,
where is it going?
