16th August – Swaps Gone Wild
“The Garden Swap” was officially launched today and immediately spiralled out of hand. It began innocently enough with seedlings, cuttings, and the odd marrow. But within an hour, someone had swapped a kettle for a sack of runner beans, and Stanley was spotted negotiating with three different households over a grandfather clock.
I tried to stay sensible and came away with two spider plants and, rather oddly, a frying pan. When I got home, I realised I don’t actually need another frying pan, but perhaps it can go back into the next swap.
At this rate, we’ll be trading wallpaper by the end of the month.
