13th August – Post Box Ploys
On the way to post my entry for the poetry competition, I ran into Stanley loitering by the post box.
He leaned in as if sharing a state secret and whispered that the garden swap should “go beyond courgettes.” His eyes gleamed in a worrying way.
He muttered about “bigger opportunities,” though when I asked what, he coughed and pretended to examine the post box paint. I half-suspect he’s planning to swap his old wheelbarrow for livestock.
I only hope it’s not pigs — Maureen says pigs are far too clever and would have the committee tied in knots within a week.
