Wildflower Diary - 11th July

They moved in on Monday.
I waited until Thursday —
which felt like enough time
not to seem nosy, but not so much as to look distant.

The cake was blackcurrant. From the bush by the compost heap that grows like it’s got something to prove. No icing. Just sugar on top and a crack down the middle where it rose with enthusiasm. I carried it over carefully, like a letter from the garden.

We talked about bins. They seem kind.
